Winter Wonderland
We woke up this morning to a gorgeous winter wonderland. Such a nice thick carpet of snow that we had to force our way out the front door so we could trudge through the snowbanks to the garage for the snow shovel (took about three tries and eventually we went out the back). Mom shoveled the walk, I stomped down a path at the back door so that the cats could get outside to pee.
One magical moment was when I walked under the snow laden pine tree into the hollow under its branches. As I was stooped there (the branches are LOW) admiring the beauty of it a chickadee landed on the branch above my head and dumped snow down my back. Yay for winter!
I did stomp down that path though - while singing Good King Wenceslas at the top of my lungs - we don’t have any close neighbours to disturb with my off key renditions.
Now we get to sit in the house all day surrounded by snow. The fire is crackling, the animals are content (I knew it had snowed when I woke up this morning to discover I was sharing with 2 cats and a third joined immediately after I moved), and the power hasn’t gone out.
Mom is unfortunately currently on a cleaning kick (because the Scot is coming!) but she should get over that soon and we can settle in for a cozy afternoon of reading and writing. I love living in a Winter Wonderland!!
